On Monday, 8 February 2016, in the evening at around 19:00, in Kaunas, on S. Žukausko street near No. 19, an Opel Astra hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 41-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 58-year-old driver of the Opel (30 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
