On Thursday, 12 May 2016, in the evening at 22:38, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Ryga–Šiauliai–Tauragė–Kaliningradas main road (kilometre 63.96), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Yamaha YZF-R6 and a Suzuki GSX-R 1000. One person died — the 22-year-old driver of the Yamaha. The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Yamaha (4 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. Both drivers were sober.
