On Saturday, 14 May 2016, in the morning at 8:15, in Plungės district municipality, on the Mažeikiai–Plungė–Tauragė national road (kilometre 56.70), a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a BMW and a Mitsubishi Outlander. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the BMW (2 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance and failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
