On Monday, 21 March 2016, in the morning at around 10:00, in Kauno city municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 100), a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved an Opel Zafira and a car. One person was injured — the 19-year-old driver of a car (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Opel (14 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
