On Tuesday, 5 September 2023, in the afternoon at around 16:00, in Kaunas, on Panerių street, at the junction with Islandijos pl., a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW 320D and a Volvo V70. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the BMW (1 year of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
