On Sunday, 5 June 2016, in the evening at around 20:00, in Anykščių district municipality, Svėdasų town, on the Kupiškis–Utena national road, a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved an Opel, a Volkswagen Golf and a Toyota Land Cruiser. Four people were injured — the 21-year-old driver of the Opel (treated as an outpatient), a 40-year-old passenger of the Toyota (treated as an outpatient), a 15-year-old passenger of the Toyota (treated as an outpatient) and a 10-year-old passenger of the Toyota (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the Opel (1 year of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
