On Sunday, 30 April 2023, in the evening at 18:50, in Anykščių district municipality, on the Kupiškis–Utena national road, a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a DAF FT 105XF460 registered in Serbia, a Volkswagen Sharan and a Burg BPO12-27 Z. One person died — a 36-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the DAF (1 year of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 30 km/h.
