On Friday, 1 July 2016, in the morning at around 10:00, in Šilalės district municipality, on Nepriklausomybės street, at the junction with J. Basanavičiaus street, an Opel Zafira hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 73-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 67-year-old driver of the Opel (30 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober.
