On Monday, 25 July 2016, at night at 1:40, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zapyškis–Šakiai national road (kilometre 21), a BMW 525 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the BMW (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. She had no driving licence. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
