On Friday, 26 August 2016, in the evening at around 21:00, in Tauragės district municipality, on Dariaus ir Girėno street, at the junction with Birutės street, a Mitsubishi Outlander hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 44-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (29 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
