On Monday, 29 August 2016, in the evening at 17:35, in Kauno city municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 96.40), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Mitsubishi Galant and a Peugeot 207. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (5 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
