On Wednesday, 14 December 2016, in the evening at around 19:00, in Kaunas, on Tunelio street near No. 6, a Peugeot 307 hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person died — a pedestrian. The accident was caused by the 58-year-old driver of the Peugeot (15 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, there was freezing rain, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
