On Thursday, 19 January 2017, in the afternoon at around 14:00, in Kaunas, on Tunelio street, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW 318, a Volkswagen Sharan, a Peugeot 407, a Mercedes-Benz ML 270 CDI and a MAN 26.403. One person was injured — a 29-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 24-year-old driver of the BMW (1 year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
