On Saturday, 21 January 2017, at night at 3:30, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 287.33), a Mercedes-Benz E 320 CDI ran off the road. One person died — a 53-year-old passenger of a Setra. Eight people were injured — a 19-year-old passenger of the Setra (treated as an outpatient), a 32-year-old passenger of the Setra (hospitalized), a 69-year-old passenger of the Setra (treated as an outpatient), a 21-year-old passenger of the Setra (treated as an outpatient), a 19-year-old passenger of the Setra (treated as an outpatient), a 54-year-old passenger of the Setra (treated as an outpatient), a 23-year-old passenger of the Setra (hospitalized) and a 20-year-old passenger of the Setra (hospitalized). Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 100 km/h.
