On Thursday, 20 April 2017, in the evening at around 20:00, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Valkininkų g s –Daugai–Alytus national road (kilometre 25.59), a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Sharan and a Volkswagen Golf. Three people were injured — the 18-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Sharan (treated as an outpatient), a 17-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen Sharan (hospitalized) and the 46-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Golf (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 18-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Sharan (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober.
