On Sunday, 23 April 2017, at night at 23:25, in Klaipėda, on Taikos pr., at the junction with Naikupės street, a Volkswagen Golf ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 50-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (less than a year of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
