On Sunday, 9 July 2017, in the evening at around 19:00, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 117.40), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Passat Variant, an Alfa Romeo Giulietta, a Mitsubishi Outlander, a Chrysler Grand Voyager, a Volkswagen Polo and a Volkswagen Passat. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Passat Variant (18 years of driving experience). All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
