On Friday, 27 December 2024, in the afternoon at 12:20, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 117.89), a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a DAF FT 85CF.380, a Neptun, a Stokota 3SC43, a trailer/semi-trailer 0.75–3.5 t, an Iveco and an Iveco. One person was injured — the 69-year-old driver of the Iveco (hospitalized, was not wearing a seatbelt). The accident was caused by the 38-year-old driver of the DAF (15 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
