On Thursday, 3 August 2017, in the afternoon at around 13:00, in Prienų district municipality, Šaltupio village, on the Kaunas–Prienai–Alytus national road (kilometre 22.50), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Hyundai, an Ackermann -, a Scania and a Volvo V50. One person was injured — a 17-year-old passenger of the Hyundai (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the Hyundai (12 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
