On Saturday, 19 August 2017, in the evening at around 17:00, in Birštono municipality, on the Vilnius–Prienai–Marijampolė main road (kilometre 93.42), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz E 200 CDI and a Yamaha. Two people were injured — the 53-year-old driver of the Yamaha (hospitalized) and a 38-year-old passenger of the Yamaha (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 31-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (7 years of driving experience). Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet.
