On Saturday, 14 October 2017, in the evening at 21:30, in Prienų district municipality, on the Kaunas–Prienai–Alytus national road (kilometre 21.20), a Citroen Xantia ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 51-year-old driver of the Citroen (33 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
