On Saturday, 23 December 2017, at night at 1:04, in Vilniaus district municipality, Marijampolio village, on the Vilnius–Lyda main road (kilometre 21), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Polo and a Volkswagen Passat. Two people were injured — the 25-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Polo (treated as an outpatient) and the 54-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Passat (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Polo (3 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He was drunk (2.87‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
