On Thursday, 25 January 2018, at night at 1:50, in Kauno city municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 100.32), on a bridge, a Scania R 124 LA hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of the Scania (14 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.51‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
