On Monday, 5 February 2018, in the morning at around 10:00, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Panevėžio aplinkkelis main road (kilometre 15.27), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a BMW 730 d registered in Estonia, a Magyar registered in Poland, a Nissan Primera, a MAN TGX 18.440 registered in Poland and a Skoda Superb. Three people were injured — the 27-year-old driver of the Nissan (severely injured, hospitalized), a 25-year-old passenger of the Nissan (severely injured, hospitalized) and a 26-year-old passenger of the Nissan (severely injured, hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the BMW (1 year of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
