On Monday, 13 August 2018, in the evening at 17:30, in Telšių district municipality, Vembūtų village, on the Telšiai–Varniai–Laukuva national road (kilometre 12.60), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Peugeot 807, a Peugeot 207 and a Volvo S60. Five people were injured — the 20-year-old driver of the Peugeot 807 (treated as an outpatient), the 66-year-old driver of the Volvo (treated as an outpatient), a 4-year-old passenger of the Peugeot 207 (treated as an outpatient), the 35-year-old driver of the Peugeot 207 (treated as an outpatient) and a 49-year-old passenger of the Volvo (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the Peugeot 807 (2 years of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
