On Friday, 19 October 2018, in the evening at 19:57, in Vilniaus district municipality, on the Vilnius–Panevėžys (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 20.80), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Mazda 6, a Skoda Octavia Combi, a Volvo V40, a Mercedes-Benz E320 registered in Great Britain and a MAN UEL 363. One person died — the 34-year-old driver of the Skoda (later died from the injuries, was not wearing a seatbelt). Four people were injured — the 31-year-old driver of the MAN (treated as an outpatient), a 19-year-old passenger of the MAN (hospitalized), a 35-year-old passenger of the Skoda (hospitalized) and a 3-year-old passenger of the Skoda (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 38-year-old driver of the Mazda (20 years of driving experience). All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, there was fog, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
