On Saturday, 19 January 2019, in the afternoon at 13:20, in Prienų district municipality, on the Kaunas–Prienai–Alytus national road (kilometre 21), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved an Opel and a Toyota RAV4. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 64-year-old driver of the Opel, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (1.25‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
