On Tuesday, 12 March 2019, in the afternoon at 13:20, in Kauno city municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 2), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Scania R420 registered in Poland, a Schmitz registered in Poland and a Volkswagen Golf. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of the Scania (20 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
