On Wednesday, 17 July 2019, in the evening at 19:06, in Biržų district municipality, on the Biržai–Raubonys national road (kilometre 6.40), a Volkswagen Passat ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.97‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
