On Friday, 7 August 2020, in the evening at 21:55, in Birštono municipality, on the Vilnius–Prienai–Marijampolė main road (kilometre 92.40), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Toyota RAV4 and a Chrysler PT Cruiser. Two people were injured — the 47-year-old driver of the Toyota (treated as an outpatient) and the 67-year-old driver of the Chrysler (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 47-year-old driver of the Toyota (15 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
