On Tuesday, 18 August 2020, in the afternoon at 14:37, in Raseinių district municipality, on the Ariogala–Betygala–Šiluva regional road (kilometre 14.80), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Saab 9-3 and a Volvo XC60. Three people were injured — the 35-year-old driver of the Saab (hospitalized), the 37-year-old driver of the Volvo (treated as an outpatient) and a 12-year-old passenger of the Volvo (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the Saab (17 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry.
