On Monday, 19 October 2020, in the morning at 7:23, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Palanga (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta k. pusė) main road (kilometre 17), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Volvo FH, a Schmitz SCS 24/L and a Mercedes-Benz. Two people were injured — the 56-year-old driver of the Volvo (treated as an outpatient) and the 33-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 56-year-old driver of the Volvo (35 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
