On Friday, 25 December 2020, in the evening at 18:34, in Panevėžys, on Nemuno street, at the junction with Danutės street, a Renault Clio hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. Two people were injured — a 11-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient) and a 12-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 81-year-old driver of the Renault (25 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
