On Tuesday, 6 April 2021, in the afternoon at 11:10, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 118.25), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Renault F registered in Russia, a Schmitz S01 registered in Russia, a Toyota Corolla, a Toyota Corolla and a Peugeot 508 registered in Finland. One person died — a 68-year-old passenger of the Toyota Corolla. Three people were injured — the 51-year-old driver of the Toyota Corolla (treated as an outpatient), a 3-year-old passenger of the Toyota Corolla (treated as an outpatient) and a 77-year-old passenger of the Toyota Corolla (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the Renault (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
