On Saturday, 24 July 2021, in the afternoon at 16:40, in Klaipėdos district municipality, Pyktiškės village, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 272.30), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW, a Saab 9-3, an Audi A4 and a Dethleffs registered in Norway. Six people were injured — a 43-year-old passenger of the Saab (treated as an outpatient), the 52-year-old driver of the Saab (hospitalized), a 17-year-old passenger of the Saab (hospitalized), a 14-year-old passenger of the Audi (treated as an outpatient), a 17-year-old passenger of the Audi (hospitalized) and a 11-year-old passenger of the Audi (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the BMW (8 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (1.17‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
