On Tuesday, 31 August 2021, in the evening at around 18:00, in Šilalės district municipality, Bytlaukio village, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 227.80), an Opel ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the Opel (8 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
