On Friday, 21 January 2022, in the morning at 10:49, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Panevėžys–Aristava–Sitkūnai main road (kilometre 17.37), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a DAF FT XF 105.460 registered in Moldova and a car. Six people were injured — a 26-year-old passenger of a car (treated as an outpatient), a 26-year-old passenger of a car (treated as an outpatient), a 40-year-old passenger of a car (treated as an outpatient), the 31-year-old driver of a car (treated as an outpatient), a 29-year-old passenger of a car (treated as an outpatient) and a 53-year-old passenger of a car (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the DAF (14 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident there was a blizzard, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
