On Monday, 31 January 2022, in the morning at 7:20, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on the Kaunas–Jurbarkas–Šilutė–Klaipėda national road (kilometre 225), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a BMW Serie 5, a Mitsubishi Outlander, a BMW and a Renault Megane Scenic. Two people were injured — the 35-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (treated as an outpatient) and a 8-year-old passenger of the Mitsubishi (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 60-year-old driver of the BMW Serie 5 (10 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was snowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
