On Saturday, 15 May 2021, in the evening at around 18:00, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on the Kaunas–Jurbarkas–Šilutė–Klaipėda national road (kilometre 222.90), a BMW 530 ran off the road. The collision involved the BMW, a LAG and a MAN TGX. Two people were injured — the 24-year-old driver of the BMW (hospitalized) and a 23-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 24-year-old driver of the BMW (3 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
