On Saturday, 28 May 2022, in the evening at around 18:00, in Kauno city municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta k. pusė) main road (kilometre 5), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen registered in Estonia and a Skoda. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 31-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
