On Monday, 31 July 2023, in the evening at 17:48, in Kelmės district municipality, on Dariaus ir Girėno street, at the junction with Vytauto Didžiojo street, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Opel, a Nissan X-Trail and a Mitsubishi Pajero. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 38-year-old driver of the Opel (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.02‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
