On Tuesday, 9 July 2024, in the evening at 17:19, in Kretingos district municipality, Grykšių village, on the Šiauliai–Palanga main road (kilometre 131.46), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a MAN TGA 33.480, a Saurida 1500, a Goldhofer, a Volkswagen, a Volvo V70 and a Mitsubishi Outlander. Three people were injured — the 37-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (hospitalized), the 38-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (treated as an outpatient) and a 66-year-old passenger of the Volvo (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 58-year-old driver of the MAN (34 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
