On Thursday, 11 July 2024, in the evening at 22:40, in Kauno district municipality, Sausinės village, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 111), in a roadworks zone, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a DAF, a Schmitz Cargobull and a Volkswagen NEW Beetle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 48-year-old driver of the DAF (33 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
