On Sunday, 11 August 2024, at night at 2:02, in Raseinių district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 172.12), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW 320D and an Audi 80 Avant. Three people were injured — a 29-year-old passenger of the Audi (treated as an outpatient), the 32-year-old driver of the Audi (treated as an outpatient) and a 21-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the BMW (9 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
