On Tuesday, 20 August 2024, in the afternoon at around 13:00, in Kaunas, on Raudonojo Kryžiaus street, at the junction with Marijampolės pl., a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Golf registered in Germany and a Citroen C5. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (12 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
