On Sunday, 8 September 2024, in the evening at 19:15, in Vilnius, on Stepono Batoro street, at the junction with Pergalės street, a car hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person died — a 68-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of a car (2 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He had no driving licence. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
