On Saturday, 5 April 2014, at night at 0:14, in Vilnius, on S. Batoro street, at the junction with Pergalės street, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Mitsubishi Galant and a Toyota Corolla. Three people were injured — the 27-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (hospitalized), a 16-year-old passenger of the Mitsubishi (treated as an outpatient) and the 20-year-old driver of the Toyota (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. He was drunk (2.34‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
