On Thursday, 12 September 2024, in the evening at 20:48, in Pasvalio district municipality, on the Panevėžys–Pasvalys–Ryga main road (kilometre 45.58), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz Actros registered in Latvia, a trailer/semi-trailer > 10 t and a BMW 3ER Reihe. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (10 years of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
