On Thursday, 19 December 2024, in the evening at 18:27, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Prienai–Alytus (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta d. pusė) national road (kilometre 7.20), a Mitsubishi Lancer hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 13-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 34-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (16 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
