On Sunday, 16 February 2014, in the evening at 19:15, in Šilalės district municipality, Stungaičių village, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 235.30), a Volkswagen Bora hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 53-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (25 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
